Can't Receive - Barcode Already Exists

When an item is marked Received in ComCat, the system attempts to create a temporary item record for the requested title in the borrowing library's local system.  If an item with that barcode already exists, staff will encounter this error:

 

Cannot receive item. (Item with barcode 019283759029 already exists.; )

To get around this error staff will need to:

 

  1. Delete the temporary item record in the local system that uses the barcode.  If assistance is needed, please contact your network office for assistance. 
  2. Try marking the item as Received in ComCat again.
