Sometimes, a request might be marked Returned prematurely. The borrowing library or their patron still has the item, and it is not ready to be physically sent back to the lender, but the status in ComCat was changed to Returned by accident.
There is no way to undo the Returned status. When an item is marked Returned, ComCat sends a message to the ILS to discharge the item from the patron's account. If this happens, staff can add a Borrower's Note on the request in ComCat to note that the item was returned in error. To get the item back on their patron's record, they will need to manually check the item out to the patron again in their ILS. When the patron is done with the item and it can be returned back to the lender, staff can add another Borrower's note on the request to note the date that it was truly returned.
